History of Our Shield

The Veritas is a latin word meaning truth, and it is the motto of the dominican order
The Star is symbolic of the early paintings of St. Domic which always showed a star at his forehead, which symbolises the enligtenment of God through Jesus Christ. "O Light of the church, Teacher of Truth.."
The Crest is a simple black and white, and portrays the religious habit of the Dominicans or Black Friars as we are also known.
The Rosary Star was designed as the rosary itself is the way of light, through union with Christ in love, by means of this prayer and its consequences., Hence the Greek PX in the middle of the star, symbolising Christ in Mar'ys womb, and showing through His Cross, Grace, which is our life. Our symbol helps us to link the rosary in its inner meaning with the iwsdom of Eastern Christianity, and indeed with the wisdom of the wise men of old who came to worship the Baby-King in Bethlehem. The beads in star-shape thus represent the light of Christ in Mary as Mother and God-bearer, and is rich with many other meanings
The Ave Maria is from the angelic-themed prayer that runs right through the rosary, giving a secure knowledge of God's presence in the joys, through the sorrows and into glory. God remains always unchanging in his love from sorrows and into Glory. God remains always unchanging in his love from bead to bead. Mary images him and invites us to join her.
